VENETIAN BLINDS

BASSWOOD

  • Wood blinds capture nature’s beauty and enhance a room’s cosiest qualities while giving windows “centre stage” status.
  • The natural characteristics of wood can lead to variations in colour, grain texture and to some extent warping depending on the environment.
  • Wood venetians cannot be guaranteed against a natural tendency to warp especially if used in extremely humid / wet areas, therefore one must be careful not to install them in areas where ventilation is minimal.
  • Close to the sea, try and keep the blind in a pulled up position when windows are fully opened. This will deter the build-up of salt deposit on the slats thus giving the blind a longer life span
  • CLEANING – Use a clean, dry feather duster, soft cloth or dust mitt to gently wipe off dust and debris. To ensure thorough cleaning, wipe the slats individually on both sides. For significant residue build up, use a sparsely dampened cloth with mild detergent to wipe each slat. Do not immerse the product in water or use abrasive chemical solvents.
  • Our blinds are supplied with ladder string and cords which are colour coordinated.
  • The head rail is covered with a wood valance which finishes off the product beautifully.
  • Wood venetians are not a total light blackout product. The blind will close sufficiently to ensure privacy but will allow light into the room. It is therefore not entirely room darkening. Blinds that are unusually long in drop will not close snugly at the bottom and might let a bit more light through than normal. It will, however, still ensure privacy.
  • Due to the nature of the product a slight variation in height may occur from time to time. Where blinds are clearly marked as being in the same room or hanging side by side we will try to match the finishes and heights as closely as possible. This can however not always be guaranteed.
  • Our wooden blind is only available in 50mm width as it is more stable than narrower widths.
  • Remember that wood blinds are heavier than other products; therefore it is advisable not to order too large a size as it becomes quite heavy to pull up. Bass is a stable wood and highly suitable for wood venetian blinds. Always remember though that it still remains a natural product even though it has been treated for the purposes of putting up in a window or against a door.
  • Slats must be tilted to the open position before the blind is pulled up.
  • Be aware that dye lot differences are probable, therefore try and order once off when requiring a number of blinds and indicate whether blinds are in one opening.
  • Over a period of time some fading will occur especially on the darker colours!

aluminium venetian blinds

ALUMINIUM BLINDS

  • The venetian blind is a practical solution for light control at both the office and home.
  • Blind widths are 25mm and 50mm.
  • Blinds comprise aluminium slats coated with a strong epoxy.
  • All pins and rollers are made from stainless steel and brass to prevent rusting (although this cannot always be guaranteed near the coast).
  • Cords, ladders,  head and bottom rails are colour co-ordinated.
  • The blinds are issued complete with brackets to suite the installation and moulded plastic- (25mm) or plated metal- (50mm) hold-down brackets (on request) for the bottom rail.
  • Tilting of slats to any desired angle is activated with a clear hard plastic wand through the tilter gear on a 25mm blind or cords on the 50mm blind.
  • A draw cord is used to pull the blind up and down. Only operate the lift controls once the slats are in an open horizontal position.
  • The 50mm venetian blind is becoming increasingly popular with a more dramatic look and enhancing the latest décor trends.
  • The aluminium wood look blind with wood trimmings is an exciting product as an alternative to real wood. The wood trimmings consist of a real wood valance, bottom rail, wand and toggle which gives the blind an extremely authentic wood look at minimal cost.
  • The 50mm wood look venetian with standard wood trimmings can be fitted into large-sized windows and doorways with ease as they are far lighter than wood, easy to handle and stack higher. These blinds have become as ultra-modern as the real wood with the added advantage of greater stability.
  •  Please note that venetian blinds are made for light control. It is possible to see through them at different angles. If blinds are extremely long the lowest part of the slats may not close as snugly as the rest of the blind. This is normal.
  •  Aluminium venetian blinds should be washed off regularly to rid the blind of salt deposits on the slats and Prevent moisture accumulating on the slats. To do this: remove the blind from the window, secure the blind on the wash line and rinse off with a hosepipe. You can even use a car wash ‘n wax liquid in the water to be rinsed off afterwards. Wait for the blind to dry and clip back into place once dry. Do not pull the blind up while it is still wet or damp. Slats should also be wiped down with a damp cloth on a regular basis in heavily polluted and/or coastal areas.

zebra blinds

ZEBRA BLINDS

  • Roller blinds are used for shading or total sun block, depending on what desired effect is required. There is a range of fabrics from light almost transparent fabrics to the total block out fabric.
  • The blind operates from an aluminium tube (32mm / 38mm) with a modern chain operated side control which allows for easy operation.
  • Roller blinds need to be guided by hand when being rolled up so as to prevent the fabric from rolling up skew and touching the brackets which will cause fraying or creasing. Installing the blind absolutely level will help the blind to roll up straight.
  • Although block out fabric blocks sunlight out completely, light will still filter in on the sides of the blind.
  • There will be a 25mm gap on the side of the control and a 10mm gap on the opposite side.
  • Two roller blinds in one window may be installed with one centre bracket thus allowing a smaller gap between blinds smaller.
  • Most roller fabrics are just over 2.0m wide. Should a blind be ordered wider than the width of fabric, the fabric will have to be turned in order to get the required width of the blind. As the fabric has a memory of how it should be rolled up, this may cause the fabric to curl on the edges. Turning of the fabric for wider blinds is done at clients own risk.
